1st game vs ipswich city

with all the time changes with this game we have ended up playing with 10 players.and we went up against a very different ipswich city team from last season .this  was  a very poor game  from us and as was the case on wed night we just missed chance after chance,and we still dominated ipswich even with the way we were playing.but we could not put the ball away and need plenty of work at putting this ball into the net at training .ipswich have scored from their 2nd attempt and this was the only score of the game.

this team was always going to be the best team in this comp and filled with a mixture of diamond and div 1 players it was always going to be tough.but saying that we had some very good chances and maybe should of got a couple,with their keeper making one great diving save to stop rachels attempt.

to many errors from us cost us to much field position and we gave them at least 3 of their goals.but we did look good at time and we  broke behind their  defensive line a few times to cause them some trouble.half time we were down by 1 and we ran out of legs at the end for the final score of 5-0.

big thanks too all the players for their efforts over the weekend,also like to thank all the players that filled in .bev-isa-gabby and julia thanks to all of you ladies the help was very much appreciated.also thanks to ipswch knight  for letting gabby play for us on sat.and thanks to the supporters who came out for both games.

pre season vs olympic

first game of the season.

our aim through the pre season has been about passing and moving,and it was very evident this half .we played some very good balls and  moved into some very good positions and i was fairly happy with our efforts for our 1st hit out.but we were rushing ourselves and getting a little panicky,but there was some very good football played .we took the lead through one such move and matilda finished the move off well to give us a well deserved lead.

2nd half started with us again playing decent footy and we were getting behind them out wide nearly every time we attacked.but this half we started to get those bad habits back just booting the ball isn't good enough for us anymore WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT.we scored our second through a penalty to carmel who was brought down in the box,we then got our third from checkers who hit a 20 metre screamer into top far corner to give us a final score of 3-0.

with our attack minded game we are trying to play this season we will get caught out when we give this ball away.i thought our cenral defence of tammy and ange were very strong and both our wide ladies very very strong (great debut from elise).our mids were very impressive and their work load will be huge this year and i thought they all went very well.our strikers tried hard all game and maybe this was ourbiggest fault tonight ,we missed to many easy chances,but i would rather make all these chances and miss a few than to make no chances at all.and then our mom susie who was not all that busy but was all class when she was called on.

i would like to thank all the ladies who came out to have a run and help us out tonight.monique-bev-morgan and julia thanks for your effort ladies all played very well.

and then to rowen for stepping up to ref.and terrence who helped me set the field up.thanks for the support you guys .

2011 div3 season review

round 1

we started off with our biggest win of the season against albany creek and went into our match against taringa still undefeated,in a tight game we went down 1-0 for our 1st loss we then lost 2 out of our next 3 to have a half season record of 4 win 2 draws and 3 losses for 14 pts and 5th spot.

round 2

with our numbers starting to shrink we played albanycreek to start and grabbed a good win as we played a 1/4 of the game with 10 players.we played a lot better football this round and dominated most games we played in,but we dropped important points against uni and capalaba and these results have in the end cost us our spot in the finals.but the encouraging sign this round was the way we played and we will only improve on this next season.

2011 again saw us recruit new players (susie matilda ange nats and checkers)

susie.we stole from the div 6 ladies and she  became our  keeper in morgans absence ,and did a fantastic job for us ,and the improvement she made as the season went on  was a big part in our improved showing in the second round.and will look forward to working with her again next season.

matilda.the fiery little blonde with speed to burn,her play during the mid to end of the  season was absolutely fantastic and her never die attitude is something i love to see ,she became a very important player for us out wide and hopefully will make her way back to us next season. 

nats.left us late on to get hitched.after having a few season off she made her way down to dunlop and played up front for us,it took a while for her to get use to the way we played but she started to show what she is capable of and scored the goal of the year at albany creek (sorry susie).and with this season under her belt .will be fit and ready to go next season.

checker.the player we stole from annerley(and loving it)she formed the other part of our speedy twosome and was one of our best performed players all year,her willingness to learn and her never die attitude was great to see.and she will be a big part in this teams success next season.

ange.our youngest member and someone who impressed me all season .she is going to be a huge player for this club in future years,another player who just wants to learn and she has been a huge pleasure to coach.

we also had a couple of returning players (sally monique)

sally.sally played how she always does all heart and never die attitude,and always a player you can rely on where ever you put her, her end of season striker play  may be looked at  next season .

monique.the talent is there and the last half of the season we started to see the monique that is capable of dominating games at this level .and her ability to play mid or striker was very valuable this season and really hope to see her back next season.

and our returning players (carmel,tammy,caitlin,lara,clem,rachel,morgan and mel)

cpt carmel.her leadership and leading by example is an inspiration to the whole team and she is and always will be a huge part of this teams success.

vcpt tammy.showed sign that she is becoming the player this team needs to lead from the backline.and her ball play out of the backline was sometimes fantastic . i think i even saw a couple of headers this season.

caitlin.again like her sister,has the never die attitude and always give 100%,and she became a very important player in our backline .always consistent and reliable on the field which are huge assets to have.

lara.another good season from our man marker,and the last part of our defence,she is always asked to mark their strike player and she always delivers.

clem.another great season from her whether playing out wide or in the middle she always delivers .and even started getting on the score sheet late on in the season.she will hopefully form our centre mid again next season with carmel.

rachel.very impressed with her this season.always a pleasure to coach and will play anywhere you ask her to , and you know she will give everything for the whole 90 minutes.but sad to say she may not be with us next season due to uni prac work.but rachel remeber us and get back as soon as you can.

morgan.unfortunately due to work we did not see her as much as we would of liked.but when she did play she was always class,and always featured in the ladies 3-2-1 votes.hopefully will be with us next season.

mel.late cameo from mel and she showed why i am so keen to get her back next season.always very consistent and she has  talent to burn.

also a very big thank you to bev for filling in for us during the season ,another player who gives everything and was great to have you with us .

ladies overall it was a season we proved we can compete in this division and while it was disappointing to miss out in finals footy, the positives - our 2nd round of the season also we only lost 5 games playing in a higher division.we now have to aim higher next season and play more consistent and lets win the league.

well done ladies see you all next season.

1ST HALF

well how to start in a game we could have lost by only   3 goals or less to make finals.this half oxley have had 11 shots to ipswich's 6 to  find  ourselves down 5-0 at half time.(this just tells the story)

2ND HALF

again we matched them and had more chances but again poor finishing has cost us.we got the 1st to be back at 5-1 ,we have conceded 2 very soft penalties this half  for the final score of 7-1 .and have missed our place in the semi-finals.

CAPALABA

1ST HALF

we controlled this game from the start and played fast flowing football and broke behind the capalaba's defence time and time again.but we could not get that goal through either poor last options or desperate defence from capalaba.then we have conceded from their very 1st time in our half through our players being to soft in defence.half time 1-0 down.

2nd half

if we dominated the 1st half we killed them this half,i have not seen a team dominate another team like we did last night,again we moved the ball well and we got what we deserved with a great effort from clem to get us back to level,we then went in front with another well taken goal from clem .we then kept up the pressure but could not get the 3rd.To then concede with the last kick of the game for the final score to be 2-2

we played so well ,but we put ourselves under pressure and we still have these lower division lapses,and tonight these lapses have cost us 2 points.we do not deserve to miss out on finals football with the way we have played in the last month.ladies next week lets go out there and do what we need to do to get what we all want.

great game ladies ,but lets learn from this.

 i have always said i don't care about the result i only care about how we played.tonight i was very proud on the way the ladies went out there,but am finding it hard to swallow the draw.ladies you guys have been so good  this last month .
