Working Bee - Sunday 18th October

There is a working bee this Sunday at Dunlop Park. I need some help for about 1/2 hour to put away the goal posts for the summer. I'll be down there from 9am if anyone can make it.

We also have a bobcat coming to spread the sand in the holes on field 3.

Petition for car park improvements

The club is looking for someone to voluteer to organise a petition for car park improvements.

Late last year a number of stakeholders met with the Brisbane City Council, including the swimming pool, state school, local councilor, and Oxley United. The swimming pool has been pushing for increased car parking space for a while now and Oxley United FC is supporting them. However, the last meeting with the council did not go as well as all stakeholders had hoped, so we would like to start lobbying a bit harder.

A petition would require someone coming down to the club on the odd Saturday, Tuesday or Thursday night to ask players, parents and visiting teams to sign our petition.

Please see Jerry if you would like to drive this initiative.

Irrigation tanks and sprinklers near complete

The irrigation contractors' working at Dunlop park is nearing completion of the tank and playing field irrigation stage. This is a great outcome for Oxley United, Dunlop park, and the local community. Keep in mind that this means the WHOLE of Dunlop Park is now fully irrigated!!! The irrigation, along with recent upgrades to lighting and ground maintenance equipment means that Oxley United's playing fields will be amongst the best playing fields (and one of the largest football parks) in Brisbane.

The project has been funded and managed by the Brisbane City Council and we  greatly appreciate the work performed by the BCC.

Stage 2 of the project will commence when we can get a reasonable patch of clear weather. This work involves creating a storm water collection sump and harvesting system to feed to the new holding tanks. This will enable the club to cut down on town water consumption.

The club will be approaching a number of people for an induction on the use and maintenance of the new system. Please get in touch with Jerry if you want to help out with the irrigation. Don't be shy. All assistance, no matter how small, is appreciated.
